Boat Bilge Pump Stopped Working

The other day my bilge pump stopped working and i noticed a lot of water on the boat. i took it back to shore and pulled the plug and drained all of the water. i have let it sit for 2 weeks and now the motor will not turn over.. With that said, know that some submersible bilge pumps have their own “brain” and internal float switch that signal the pump to turn on and off. if your bilge pump is one of these and is directly wired to the power supply, yet it’s still not working (despite having good electrical juice flowing from the supply wire and you’ve checked. Not too hard to replace a bilge pump....unless the pump had been glued to the hose. we did get it replaced and the new version is much, much easier! thank you to richard for the help and lesson..

Boatus magazine associate editor mark corke shows you how to easily replace a broken bilge pump in your boat. having a broken bilge pump could be more than just an inconvenience.. As you can see the power can get to the bilge pump via the two paths, from battery to helm switch then to pump, or from battery to float to pump. the power for the automatic side of the bilge pump should be either wired directly to the battery, or to a hot bus near the battery and will have a fuse inline.. The bilge pump on my 1997 gs 185 glastron boat has stopped working. it is probably the pump. can you tell me what pump - answered by a verified marine mechanic.
